Beef Shepherd's Pie


  • 1 pound rundergehakt
  • 1/2 Gele ui
  • 1/4 cup paprika (or 1-2 T. paprikavlokken) in blokjes
  • zout en peper
  • 1 (15 oz) can sperziebonen
  • 1 (15 oz) can erwtjes
  • 1 (15 oz) can worteltjes in blokjes
  • diced carrots
  • 1 (15 oz) can maïskolfjes
  • 2 pkg. Bruine jus-mix (meer of minder
  • naar smaak)
  • 3 cup kant-en-klare aardappelpuree


Preheat oven to 425. Brown ground beef with onion, bell pepper, salt & black pepper in large skillet. While meat is browning, mix brown gravy mixes in a cup and add to meat after draining fat. While gravy is cooking, drain all cans of vegetables and add one by one to the skillet. When heated thoroughly and sauce is bubbly, transfer to a 9x13 casserole dish. Fill piping bag with mashed potatoes either with or without star tip (less cleanup without tip. just toss bag). Pipe potatoes over the top of the casserole. Sprinkle top with freshly ground black pepper and place in oven for 20-25 minutes or until sauce begins to bubble around edges of potatoes. (For the sake of convenience, I use instant mashed potatoes made with twice the butter and thinned a bit. It still works great.)
